Background
Background
A hotel app where users can easily book a room at Hotel Anguilla.
UX Role
UX designer student responsible for the design, wireframing, research, and usability studies.
Timeline
6 months (had a baby in the middle of this project 🙂)
Programs Used
Figma, Canva. Google Drive
The Problem
Users wanted to book a room without going through a million hoops to do so
The goal
To create an app where users can easily book a room at Hotel Anguilla
User Research
I conducted research using the unmoderated research method where users were given tasks and questions to answer after each task. The primary user group are individual who have travel experiences.
The user group confirmed that they would like to be able to reserve a room via the homepage making the experience straight forward. They also mentioned that navigation to other pages should be kept simple.
Problem statement
Landon is needing to book a hotel room for his honeymoon. He wants the reservation window to be straight forward. He also wants access to the different packages the hotel has to offer.
Ideation
Paper Wireframes
Initially created paper wireframes to draft ideas of what the user experience may look like when booking a hotel room via the Hotel Anguilla app. This ensured that the paper wireframes would address common user pinpoints before creating a digital mockup.
Digital Wireframes
Finding
Users want to choose a check-in/out date
Finding
User wants to see charges before billed
Finding
Users want a usable calendar to choose dates
The Product
Hi-Fi Prototype
The Hi-Fi prototype has a better flow from the homepage to the booking confirmation. This meets user needs for reserving dates as well as displaying a summary of details before confirmation.
Next Steps
Conduct another round of usability studies to validate whether the pain points users experienced have been effectively addressed.
Finalize Hi-Fi details making the app more customizable for the user.
